SpeedFan — sensor monitoring and fan control

SpeedFan by Alfredo Milani Comparetti reads hardware-monitoring chips to display temperatures, voltages, fan RPM, and drive S.M.A.R.T. data. On supported motherboards it can adjust PWM outputs and regulate fans using temperature response curves.

Compatibility

Version 4.52 was released in 2016 and is officially listed for Windows versions through Windows 10. New motherboards, sensors, and Windows 11 may be unsupported or misidentified. On modern hardware, begin in monitoring-only mode and compare readings with firmware or the board vendor’s tool.

Important warning

SpeedFan performs low-level hardware access. A wrongly mapped sensor or an excessively low fan setting can cause overheating. Do not enable automatic control until every sensor and fan is identified; retain a 100% emergency speed and watch temperatures under load.

The official installer carries a valid SOKNO S.R.L. digital signature. The developer requires downloads to begin from the official page rather than a hotlinked file.
